J.W. Schirmer 2013

The 150th year of death of J.W. Schirmer will be accompanied by two exhibitions at the Museum Zitadelle Jülich and two print publications .

The first exhibition will focus on new findings on Schirmers painting technoique and work process and features many media stations.

The second exhibition will illuminate ways of invention and development of Composition in works by J.W. Schirmer and their reception by other artists. The exhibition shows four versions of Schirmer's painting "Coming up storm in the Campagna" together with preperatory scetches and two copies in oil by a pupil and a later follower of Schirmer. The paintings of the exhibition will be examined in detail in our studio.

The exhibition catalogue "Landschaft macht Schule" is forthcoming.

The childrens book " "Wer stahl Schirmers Bilder?"by Gabriele Häussermann was presented in May and contains extensive didactic material.
